On Tuesday, 20 May, Members and Clerks of NQLC participated in the LawRight Queensland Legal Walk 2025, marking the 18th year for the event. This annual event is not just a stroll; it’s a vital opportunity to support LawRight, an independent not-for-profit community-based legal centre dedicated to enhancing the lives of vulnerable individuals by facilitating access to justice through partnerships with pro bono firms, lawyers, and barristers. During the last financial year, LawRight provided over 22,750 hours of service to 1,860 clients.
This year, the Legal Walk surpassed expectations by raising an impressive sum of over $128,364, crucial for sustaining LawRight’s essential services: Pro Bono Connect, Court & Tribunal Services, and Community & Health Justice Partnerships. There was also a significant increase in registered teams, individuals, and generous donors, all contributing to a substantial turnout of walkers who took to the streets of Brisbane’s CBD for the 5km river loop.
NQLC proudly contributed $7,392 towards the cause, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to supporting LawRight. For nearly two decades, Chambers has remained an active participant in the Legal Walk, acknowledging the profound impact it has on the community and reaffirming its dedication to social responsibility.
