Ed Goodwin KC has a busy commercial practice, principally acting for banks, insolvency practitioners, large companies and resource companies in the Supreme Court and the Federal Court. He has appeared in the Court of Appeal and the Full Court. Ed recently appeared in a large ICC pipeline arbitration. He has also appeared in a commercial context before the Crime and Corruption Commission.

In addition to typical disputes about contracts and trade practices, Ed appears in judicial review proceedings in the regulatory and native title areas. He also appears for witnesses being interviewed by regulatory bodies such as the ACCC and ASIC.

He has broad procedural experience including appearing at public examinations, appointing liquidators, provisional liquidators and court appointed receivers, extending convening periods, seeking and contesting security for costs, obtaining freezing orders, injunctions and Anton Piller orders, bringing summary judgment and strike-out applications, contesting disclosure applications including in relation to the waiver of privilege, setting aside or defending guillotine orders and default judgments, applying to set aside statutory demands, obtaining letters rogatory and participating in US depositions.

Ed has acted in proceedings and insolvencies relating to financial products ranging from mortgages, guarantees and charges, to bonds, options, swaptions, credit linked notes, collateralised debt obligations and credit default swaps.

Prior to being called to the Bar, Ed was a managing associate at Linklaters in London and a senior associate at Minter Ellison in Brisbane. He was the associate to Justice BW Ambrose of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1998 and 1999.
